Default Where is Capt. Don Summers?

Forgive me if I have missed something important, but I was wondering whatever became of Capt. Don Summers? If memory serves correctly, he was pilot on the CREOLE QUEEN to Tall Stacks in 1995. Anyone know anything?

He's the "Grand Old Man of New Orleans Harbor", some say. We last saw Captain Summers at Tall Stacks on the CREOLE QUEEN. He was so gracious to allow me to steer a trip in his palce. What a a thrill it is to guide the CQ. My boat, the GV2, is a pumped-up version of the QUEEN.

Capt. Don Summers has "covered the waterfronts" and I remember him from St. Louis days when he was involved with the operation of the Str. BECKY THATCHER. Have a good photo of him taken in 1970 with Ruth Ferris in her museum looking at a model of the towboat UNITED STATES. Later, Capt. Don was on the ADMIRAL and my next encounter with him was at New Orleans in the late 1970's when I was on the DQ and he took Capt. Lexie Palmore and me into one of the wheel houses aboard the PRESIDENT to see where the sidewheel had been replaced with a big "outboard motor"! A fine riverman indeed!
