re: Good news is always a welcome event

Thanks, Judy.

The DQSC plans for our grand old lady of the rivers gives her a realistic path forward well into the future. Now, if we can get some folks from Kimmswick active in keeping us old timers updated on plans and progress, that will give us information needed to help this cause along.

Anyone got some personal contacts there we can utilize?

Keep your steam up!

Thanks Judy, I hadn't seen this article yet.

GOOD news?????????????????????????????????????????

Jason Planck 06-14-2016 03:15 PM

This article reads to me as the all but official announcement that the DQ will resume operations as a docked hotel in Kimmswick.

Russ Ryle 06-14-2016 05:02 PM

Yes, good news. Just look at the other options from scrapping to neglect to other things that might render future operations impossible. The DQ will be safely preserved for now. We all want and can continue working towards full operation.

Keep your steam up!

I have two questions.....I know everyone thinks I'm either a nut or a doomsayer or booth...my questions are 1. If they couldn't keep the boat from freezing-up in rather warm Chattanooga, how are they going to keep the boat warm in Kimmwick where iceburgs come down the river in the winter ? And 2. How many tourists visit Kimmswick between November and April?

Bill Judd 06-14-2016 09:37 PM

Jim you are neither, just a very astute and knowledgeble riverman.

Judy Patsch 06-14-2016 10:03 PM

Realism not appreciated

Right on, Capt. Bill! But realism is not what is wanted on this board I'm afraid. While there probably isn't anyone wishing the dismantling of the DQ, any realistic question or concern is seen as a black mark against the questioner...

David Dewey 06-15-2016 02:59 AM

Hmm, better question: How many tourists visit Kimmswick between April and November?
Instead of spending all that money on opening a restaurant, how about spending it on a Lobbyist to tell congress the good side of the DQ story?
But, what do I know?
