Default End of year, what happens with the exemption bills?

Not being really politically savvy, does this end of year also the end of the congressional session, and the death of the two bills, or will they carry over into 2016 until summer?
And if they are still active, what can be done to gain national news type attention so the bills can be brought out of committee, or am I sticking my nose into where it's not wanted?
