Happy 85th Birthday to the Str. Delta Queen
It was an honor to be invited, but I am so sorry I couldn't take part in the 85th birthday observance festivities for the DQ at Chattanooga this week, owing to duties at the steamboat museum which prevented my being away. I look forward to a pictorial report from Travis and others who were "on deck" despite the torrid heat!
My Old Boat Column in this week's edition of The Waterways Journal pays tribute to the DELTA QUEEN, with four photos. The accompanying image was taken on July 14, 1978 as the DQ departed Lock #10 on the Upper Mississippi River. Yours truly was at the keyboard of the calliope.
Happy Birthday "Her Ladyship"! And a whistle salute to Leah Ann and Randy for ALL they do to keep the boat "afloat" in all ways!
LONG LIVE THE DELTA QUEEN!
