Thanks for posting! This is the best news I've heard in a while! To me the whistle and the calliope make the steamboat. They herald its coming and let you know that its boiler is up and running. The sound is so unmistakeable that you immediately know that it is not just another barge and towboat passing by. These sounds have always excited me like no other.
