Cincy DQ investors

Front page story in the Cincinnati Business Courier tells that Capt. Alan Bernstein and Gordon Greene are heading up a group to buy the Delta Queen and move her operations back to Cincinnati. It's a lengthy article with some very interesting qoutes by Joseph McCarthy , general counsel, for Majestic America.

Portion of article

While not the entire article, here is a portion of the article that can be viewed online for free. Very interesting.

Interesting Possibilities

If I recall AMIE put up very little cash in relative terms for the purchase of DQSB from Delaware North. Regular Cincinnati round trips to Kentucky Lake, anyone?

You know, from a purely selfish standpoint, The Krause's are 100% behind ANYBODY that wants to invest in keeping all the girls running. We were thrilled when both Delaware North and Ambassadors tried their hand at Steamboatin'. The next company that wants to give it a go, if the price per night of stateroom is within reason, the Krause's will be there, with bells on. Except for the Katrina hickups, as a passenger, I thought Delaware North was OK. I also thought Majestic America Line was finally seeing the light and I was very encouraged for the future. But I guess it is not to be. I'd like to say to any potential owners that are out there, that there are a MESS OF US repeaters, river rats so to speak, true FRN's, that will support you 100% with heart and soul, if you support us... But I will ask humbly that any company that is considering buying the boats, read ALL that they can on this forum. Yes, we're all deeply in love with all these inanimate objects and you may find it interesting to see and read what we are so inamoured about. And Private Message me if you want to know what FRN stands for...

However, I do find this particular potential plan very exciting, exciting possiblities indeed. I wonder if Capt. Bernstein and Mr Greene need investors? Honestly, with true brown water people thinking and giving their best to all the girls running, I would see this as good bet, a real good bet.

And is it just me, but a Greene and Cincinnati both being back in the mix just sounds SO right...

A name for this venture

So, if Mr Greene is involved with the effort, I have a novel idea. Many people hate the name 'Majestic America'. So, how about one that worked before and would inspire nostalgia... The Greene Line. I know that it is a longshot, but I thought I would toss it out for future consideration. American Steamboat Line, Delta Queen Steamboat Company (assuming the needed Congressional exemption)... something steamboaty and/or related to Americana, but not "majestic".
