Get Charlie Wilson
This morning's Marietta Times has a very good front-page DQ campaign story, thanks mostly to David Tschiggfrie. Marietta's city council and tourist bureau are both lined up firmly in favor of the campaign, but Marietta's Congressman Charlie Wilson (D-OH 6th -- not the guy from Texas who is the subject of the current movie) is still sitting on the fence (he is "studying the issue").
The Ohio 6th, stretching along the Ohio River from the Pennsylvania line all the way to Portsmouth, is a "should be" district for us; it includes one regular and three occasional DQ stops, plus two regular and two occasional "across the bridge" stops in West Virginia and Kentucky. But it also is a swing district (in the last couple of decades, the district has changed parties 4 or 5 times, as I recall), and freshman Democrat Wilson no doubt is under a lot of party and union pressure to toe the anti-DQ line.
So he needs a lot of local encouragement to get off the fence and co-sponsor HR 3852. If you live in the 6th district or have friends or family living there, this is the time for phone calls, letters, and e-mails.
