Default Steam pressure Gauges:

To Alan or Sam or any steamboat engineer. Can someone tell me what steam pressure was/is used on the boilers of the average vintage steamboat? I have an old Ashcroft steam gauge from my Dad's collection of things, from his days as a steamfitter back in the 20's & 30's. I think it could have come from a steamboat, but it is graduated from 0 to 300 PSI. Would that have been too high for for boilers of that era? It is stamped as follows on the back: The Ashcroft Mfg. Co New York- Model No.31223 Double Spring. Thanks for any info you can give me on this. - FRANK -
