*Death of Gordon C. Greene II this morning*

Steamboating colleagues:
Tom Greene just phoned here with the sad news his brother, Gordon C. Greene II, passed away this morning, Tuesday, March 14, in Cincinnati following a long decline. Gordon, brother of Tom, sister Jane Greene, late Mary Greene-Stewart, brother-in-law of Richard Stewart, son of Capt. Tom Greene and Letha C. Greene. This now leaves just Tom and Jane surviving. Arrangements are being made now with possible announcement in the CINCINNATI ENQUIRER leading to a future memorial service. His remains will be cremated. I have been asked as a family friend to spread the word to our many river friends and associates. I have just posted this on FACEBOOK with 'DELTA QUEEN Memories' and my extensive E=Mail river 'Address Book.' Gordon's son is coming in from Colorado.

Gordon, born 1935, was a leading figure in the Cincinnati legal commnity along with serving with his mother, Letha Greene, on issues for the old GREENE LINE STEAMERS and the DELTA QUEEN. Gordon II is the grandson of the late Capts. Gordon and Mary Greene founders of the original GREENE LINE STEAMERS. Tom will inform me of more news in due time. Our hearts go out to the Greene family. We are family thinking of each other with support and comfort.

Respectfully,

Thank you for this sad news, Dale. In addition to the aforementioned accomplishments, Gordon was also in the movie "Shawshank Redemption".

*Gordon Greene II/His theater career*
Hi,Bob,
Yes, Gordon C. Greene II, as you post, was featured in the movie "Shawshank Redemption" as one of the parole board, I think. Gordon was also deeply inerested/involved in stage dramas and other productions here and around Cincinnati. His one interest was 'The Ensemble Theater' here in town. He balanced this with his law career coming to know many personalities in movies and the theater with Edward Albee being one. All the Greenes had talents in music, theater, writing like their parents and grandparents Capts. Gordon C. and Mary B. Greene. Old Gordon Greene Sr. was well-read enjoying books of philosophy. More in time.
