Casino Rock Island to be NATCHEZ' baby sister

It can be told now - the CASINO ROCK ISLAND is in the tow of the CHARLIE G, headed down the Illinois River, then to Mike's in Wood River for a hull inspection. If that inspection is satisfactory, then the sale to New Orleans Steamboat will be finalized and she will head on down to the Lower Bienville Wharf to await renovations this winter. She will NOT be taking over for the NATCHEZ, but will complement her, doing special events, charters, and for me hopefully the fancy dinner trips, so that the NATCHEZ can revert to a real excursion boat in the evening too. Matt Bubba Dow and Chief Scotty Vieages are aboard for this journey. Matt is posting pix on Facebook as they go. They should be at the Peoria Lock as I type, as they got out of the marina last night and got her faced up to the barge. They got underway about 7:30 this morning. I've instructed Bubba to look for any coins I might have left on there back in the early 90s :-)

Did this deal ever go through? I have a couple of friends who are pilots in New Orleans harbor and they have not mentioned the arrival of the boat at the NATCHEZ dock or anywhere else in the Louisiana area. And I don't recall anybody saying they saw it downbound below St. Louis. Would like to get the details to get it listed in the 2018 Inland River Record.

Yes it did.

The deal was done, but the CRI is still in drydock at Mike's. They have a shortage of workmen so it is dragging on - there weren't any surprises or huge problems, but they want to have all the hull work done up here so she doesn't have to be pulled out in NOLA again. Matt Dow is back in NOLA but will come back to ride her down to the NOLA harbor, whenever that will occur. She will be towed, as she was to Wood River. The only reason they are/were planning to have her at Lower Bienville was because the Industrial Lock has been closed for repairs. I haven't followed that to know if it has reopened, if so, they'll probably take the CRI right back into the place on Morrison Rd. where the NATCHEZ has her work done. But all is good with the sale and repairs, just a lack of manpower at Mike's right now.

Thanks for that, Judy. I *THINK* Industrial is closed until Dec. 7th.
