Default Historic 1877 "paddleboat" sinks

Morning all,

News from down under that is also under water ... :)

A historic paddle boat sold at an auction a fortnight ago has sunk in the Murray River at Mildura, in north-western Victoria.

The Avoca paddle boat was built in 1877 and was sold by local chef Stefano de Pieri to Mildura restaurant owner Simon Harrington for $55,000 in early April.

Police said pumps that were keeping the boat floating failed because of a power blackout.

The wharf was pulled away by the sinking boat and was now unsafe.

It was unclear who would have to fund the boat's retrieval because it was sold and under a settlement period.
