PHILADELPHIA BELLE enroute to Savannah Ga.

Scott Schadler just posted on Facebook that he sold the PHILADELPHIA BELLE and she is now enroute to Savannah Ga. This started out as the day excursion boat MISSISSIPPI BELLE II, was converted to a gambling boat for Clinton Iowa, then converted into the PB dinner boat by the Schadlers, and now she's headed presumably for more dinner cruising. Previous rumors had the CREOLE QUEEN company bringing her to New Orleans, which they put out right after NOSteamboat announced plans to build a new dinner boat...

New name?

Any scuttlebutt about a possible new name when she gets to Savanah?

When an excursion boat like PHILADELPHIA BELLE is moved to a new port, does it travel under power or is it towed?

Propulsion

This one is traveling under her own propulsion.

Interesting continuation of a fine family tradition in the excursion boat business. I assume that Jonathon Claughten is the son of Dr. Hugh Claughten who operated the Belle Carol Riverboat Co. in Nashville. In fact the M/V Belle Carol started out as a Howard built sternwheel towboat known as the Kanawha, built in 1925. Also ran at Nashville was the fine Music City Queen and the Captain Ann. Hope all goes well with the latest Claughten
chapter.

I thought the same thing when I saw the name, wondering if an offspring of Hugh D. Claughton

I seem to recall that the second generation Claughton does live in Savanna, GA.

Thank you, for the update. I wonder if they are holding a renaming party? How to Rename Your Boat - A Ceremony Steeped With Tradition and Lore! - BoatingHowTo.com

Up date, Dr. Claughton had two sons, Hugh Jr. and Jonathan. Don't know what happend to Hugh, Jr. but Jonathan is the head of River St. Riverboat Co. in Savannah. He now operates the present Georgia Queen, Ex. Missouri River Queen and the Savannah River Queen which is the Nola Cajun Queen. I think there will be a name change soon to the present Georgia Queen.
