Default The 87th natal day of Larry Walker commemorated

Yesterday, Sept. 28th, was the 89th birthday of one of the finest gentlemen in the river realm, Lawrence Larry Walker, of Cincinnati. While he doesn't 'do' computers, many of you on here know him and therefore it is worthy of mention here. Larry, his wife Ethel, and Dorothea Frye were the everpresent trio at S&D, MOR, the DQ in the 50s/60s and the Inland Rivers Library. Each October for over 30 years they traveled to New Orleans and stayed two weeks at LeRichelieu Hotel down the street from my place. They were considered part of that family too and always attended their annual picnic. Of course riding the NATCHEZ was a big part of their NOLA agenda, and Larry served for many years as a very capable steersman. Larry was also S&D treasurer for many years, and Ethel and Dorothea were part of the hospitality committee. A belated salute to Capt. Larry!
