Default *Bill No. 482 benefits Str. W.P. SNYDER*

Steamboating colleagues:
News squibs report that House Bill No. 482 signed by Ohio Governor (R) John Kasich will directly benefit the Ohio River Museum/Str. W.P. SNYDER, Jr. in Marietta, Ohio. The ORM receives $222,000; Washington State Community College receives $750,000. The ORM grant above is for continuing the restoration project on the SNYDER following the new hull for the 92 year old steam towboat and wood paddlewheel as part of stage one.

The $1.4 million project was completed at 'McGinnis, Inc.' in South point Ohio from November 2009 and August 2010. A U.S. National Park grant, a state (Ohio) appropriation along with private donations made the project possible.

In 2010 a Federal Transportation Enhancement Grant provided about $736,000for the second phase of restoration to include, in part, replacing all upper decks electrical system.
