I just returned from a three day 1700 mile trip to Pierre Part, LA. I brought back with me both mermaids, although in poor condition, and the stern signboard from the MQ.

I met with several of the guys and girls that were involved in the scrapping operation and have a number of stories to share at some point. They were some of the nicest folks I have ever met and showed some true southern hospitality.

The plans for the mermaids and sign is to restore them and return them to the Ohio river for all traveling to see and enjoy.

One tidbit that I picked up from a very reliable source is that the AQ was supposed to be scrapped to, but obviously was not.
