Our own Alan Bates entered Hosperus Hospital Friday night. They are keeping him heavily sedated and his wife of 67 years, Rita, is at his side. He is resting comforably.
Alan has been in failing health for the past couple of months. Alan did not want any notices put on .org, but now your thoughts and prayers are needed.
A few weeks ago when Kenny Howe and I had the prevelige of appearing with Alan at the Howard Museum, he told me when I took him home that was his last public appearance. Like all news of that type, I didn't want to believe him, but he has steadily declined since then and for the past several weeks he has been in the care of hosperus.
I have known Alan for over 57 years and he has been a great influence in my life, so it is with a very heavy heart that I relay this news to you his many friends.
