The M/V Mississippi Visits New Orleans !
Greetings From New Orleans !
The M/V Mississippi , pride of the Corps Of Engineers fleet , made a scheduled stop today in the Crescent City . This was a scheduled stop for the M/V Mississippi as she was conducting her anual high water inspection tour of the Lower Mississippi River . She was tied off at the Thalia St. Wharf between the Greater New Orleans Hwy. Bridge and the Robin Street Wharf , the former home to the Delta Queen Steamboat Company .
The boat was packed with all manner of local , state and corps of engineers dignitaries as was part of the numerous meetings and conferences that was conducted on board te Mississippi .
This was my first opportunity to go on board the Mississippi and I highly reccomend a tour of the boat to anyone if the occasion ever arises !
It was a very special event for me for another reason because I was able to meet with a few very special old friends that are also Captains and Pilots that serve on board the Mississippi !
If you ever question how your tax dollars are spent for maintaining America's river system , you will be pleased to know that the Corps is doing a first class job , thanks to the first class people and equipment that serve on this majestic , high tech and palatial motor vessel !
Smooth Sailing !
