Steamboating colleagues:
I attended a preliminary planning meeting today at the Kenton County Public Library, Covington, Ky, to think/plan for next year's 75th Anniversary marking the great flood of 1937. Don Clare, 'Rabbit Hash,' Boone County, Ky. has done stellar work proposing this event. The 13 attending represented museums, libraries, private collections from Louisville up to Cincinnati. The great '37 flood changed much of our region forever.

Gathering known information in archives, libraries a primary goal with eventual 'links' for sharing. Displays of period photos private/archival sought for digital copying. 'Living Memories' recorded from those still living--a rapidly dwindling group. Network with other libraries, historical societies, unversities. B/B RIVERBOATS and Alan Bernstein involved for proposed boat cruises with lecturers, displays. Local media in cities have archives of recordings, visual records etc. More on this will follow with a meeting planned in May. Don Clare's E=Mail:
