Though unrelated to river steamboats, this breaking news is still wonderful: The SS United States, legendary cruise ship and holder of the blue ribbon, has been sold to the non-profit organization SS United States Conservancy for $3 million and most likely will now be restored as a museum or hotel. More details will be available today in a press conference in Philadelphia.
