Fog on Louisiana waterways
Hello, all. I am stopped in fog at White Castle, LA, about 40 miles below Baton Rouge. We stopped last night about 6:30, visibility about 150 feet. It's still that bad at 9:30 a.m. even though the sun is out and it's a very nice 63 degrees.
Fog in January and February can be notoriously thick and persistent here, sometimes not clearing for 3 days or sometimes longer. This plays h*ll with scheduling as some of you may even have experienced riding the steamboats. We can work around nature and sometimes use technology to cheat nature, but make no mistake, nature is in control. This fog likely won't completely clear until a cold front comes through sometime tomorrow.
