That's about right for the BELLE'S five year inspection ... around this same time of year, 15 years ago, when I was staying at the Ramada Inn, in J'ville, the BoL was in drydock, and my soon-to-be boat, the HILTON FLAMINGO, was waiting over the river at Jeffboat's Louisiana Dock for our take-over from Captain Troy Manthe's New Orleans’s gang. Some of us visited aboard the BELLE, lifted up on the drydock, and soon after entering the engine room, a careless Striker dropped a heavy, steel pipe on my toe, but fortunately for me, I was wearing a new pair of steel-toed boots that were acquired only days before.
