There has been a decades-long debate between Congress and Delta Queen owners/supporters regarding exemptions to allow the continued operation of the boat. A Congressional committee recently refused to consider another exemption, citing safety concerns, which Delta Queen supporters refute with her safety record and extensive safety equipment and procedures installed over the years.
