Unusual Visitors at Louisville Wharf
Yesterday, replicas of Christopher Columbus' ships, the NINA and PINTA arrived at the Louisville waterfront, where they will remain until next Tuesday. The replica of the NINA appeared in the film "1492" and has been here several times, the last time being in 2005. The ships are owned by a foundation based in the British Virgin Islands. They tour the Great Lakes for most of the summer, the inland rivers during the fall and spend the colder months in Florida, Alabama and Louisiana. The vessels share a 10 member crew and each ship sleeps five crew members in cabins in the hold.
The ships are open for tours daily from 9 AM until 6 PM. Admission is $7 for adults, $6 for seniors (60+) and $5 for children 5-16. The fee covers tours of both ships.
