River Ramblings - 2010
For those many who have asked me, and who wish to look forward to next summer, the presenter for my 2010 River Ramblings program at the Howard Steamboat Museum & Mansion will be Capt. Carl Henry, riverman extraordinaire from La Crosse, Wisconsin on the beautiful Upper Mississippi River. Carl has worked on the river since he was 19 years old and also holds degrees in English and Fine Arts, having also been employed in the public relations and publishing fields.
Entitled From Paddlewheels to Propellers - A View from the Pilothouse, Carl's program will present fascinating images of the river at work and at play, along with commentary concerning his 30 year career on the rivers, with emphasis upon his time as pilot on the Str. JULIA BELLE SWAIN to his current position as master of the M.V. FRANK T. STEGBAUER, of Southern Towing Company.
We look forward, as always, to seeing everybody on deck for another enjoyable weekend of steamboat cruises, museum tours, group meals and sessions of river history education, fun and fellowship! Capt. Carl is super friendly, very knowledgeable and has given numerous enthusiastic presentations on river topics. A date for the program will be arranged and announced after the first of the year. Stay tuned!
