Putting someone else on, big time. Plitowheels like that are a dime a dozen. The BELLE's pilotwheel is (I believe) original to the boat and is about 8 feet in diameter. Alan will get a hoot out of this!

Dave,

With out any doubt at all I can assure you this is NOT the wheel from the pilothouse of the Str. BELLE OF LOUISVILLE. It may have decorated the office of one of the former Belle of Louisville Board of Directors, but it is NOT the pilot wheel from the pilothouse of the boat.

It is way too small, the hub of the original is NOT brass, and the wheel facing is not anything like what you see here.

As wheels go, it is a nice collectible peice...but, not the genuine article...not even close to the original in size! The original is 8 feet in diameter and this one is about 4 feet at best. I'd buy if for a $50-100 if I had a boat to put it on!

Well, if someone pays $1500.00 for that wheel, I believe that they could be easily talked into buying the national debt too. ;)

One of you must have contacted the seller because I see the description is revised, and now makes no mention of the BELLE... but it is still advertised as 100% guaranteed an original, not a reproduction!

The buy now price was lowered too, but it's still alot.

Wellll. . . .
If it's just a generic "ship's wheel" then it's not a reproduction of anything, so I guess you could call it an "original"!!!
Gee. . . If I can sell that, could I interest you in a bridge? It IS a real concrete asset!

Belle of Louisville pilotwheel? HOO-HAW!! That's the kind of pilotwheel they give away at banquets honoring senators and other leeches.
