American Queen featured on "Little People-Big World" on TLC

Little People, Big World : TLC

Plays Monday (3/16) @ 7pm central

I happened to see a repeat last evening on the 1st part, the family departing on the AQ, Memphis to Cincinnati, Jun/Jul 2008

They seem to cast the boat in a very positive light.

Hi, Pete & steamboating colleagues:
Thanks for the 'heads up' on 'Little People-Big World' on TLC featuring the AMERICAN QUEEN. I caught the promo/lead here on the weekend. Any idea when that segment was filmed? Should be of interest to the members of .org.

Coal Haven Landing, Ohio River.

In his post Pete has the date June/July 2008 - don't know if that's filming date, date they took trip or what..............having caught parts of it last Monday, I can say that it was done under Majestic ownership, as the 'Majestic Blue' paint is there - yuk! Lots of nice shots of that big red wheel a-turnin' though.

It was my understanding they were on a Memphis to Cincinnati trip leading up the the 4th of July...2008, I believe????

You are correct. It was supposed to have been the first UMR trip but with the high water the American Queen instead made her one and only trip up the Ohio for the 2008 season during that time period.

I was on days off and doing some fill in work at the Rabbit Hash Shipyard when the American Queen passed the "Center of the Universe". I was informed at that point by some of the crew members that the "Little People- Big World" people were aboard.
