Default 'Sad report/'Feedback/ in SSHSA 'TELEGRAPH'.

RE: SSHSA's 'TELEGRAPH' Vol III, No. 4 Winter, 2008.
Many thanks to Alan and Shipyard for their views, comments, memories in the below thread RE: RIVERBARGE. No surprise in reading about RB here as there were subtle rumbles some weeks ago. A few media comments here have featured reader's letters to the editor posing some of the very questions Alan and Shipyard present below. [Hated to 'jump' with a new thread.]

Yesterday in the mail arrived 'The TELEGRAPH', quarterly publication of the STEAMSHIP HISTORICAL SOCIETY OF AMERICA - Winter, 2008. Two articles filled with sobering reality catching much attention. 'A Sad Report' Pg. 2 submitted by Missy Ellis, former DELTA QUEEN Steamboat Co. purser and administrator, dated Nov. 11 focused on the present situation of the DQ and MQ laid up together in New Orleans. Missy took Cindy and Capt. Gabe Chengery on a walk-through of the DQ following the "...shut down." Featured is a photo by Capt. Ted Davisson of the MISSISSIPPI QUEEN's grand forward cabin lounge filled with decay and creeping mold. Missy's short piece ends with "...Such a shame."

Pg. 3 of 'The TELEGRAPH' features a long column written by David A. Schultze, Bala Cynwyd, Penn. David no doubt known to many on this site from his days on the MISSISSIPPI QUEEN & AMERICAN QUEEN engineering departments. David traces his memories of the company from Delaware North in Buffalo on with penetrating views.

'The TELEGRAPH' is the quarterly supplement newsletter to the quarterly STEAMBOAT BILL. Inland river steamboats/related vessels are well covered in this all inclusive publication.
