Default Van Johnson died Friday

I remember that Van Johnson has a door brass plate in his honor on one of the doors to the rooms off of the Delta Queen's Betty Blake Lounge. Does anyone have information on the occasion of Van Johnson's trip on the DQ? Was anyone traveling with him? Who had the plate installed? Did anyone on this blog travel on the same trip? If so, what were your reflections or memories of that trip? The following is part of the L A Times obit:

Johnson rose to stardom in 'A Guy Named Joe' and 'Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo.' His World War II-era films drew such a huge bobby-soxer following that columnists dubbed him 'The Voiceless Sinatra.'

Van Johnson, who soared to stardom during World War II as MGM's boy-next-door in films such as "A Guy Named Joe" and "Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo" and became one of the era's top box-office draws, died Friday. He was 92.
