That probably was December 1983. I was on the MQ as Jr. Activities Director for the Christmas trip, I believe the 22nd - 29th. It was 28 in Natchez on Christmas Day. I've posted pix before of the icicles on the fantail and paddlewheel. When we were headed back to NOLA, we were told to take on water in Baton Rouge, as NOLA had little water pressure. It had gotten down to 6 in NOLA and pipes burst everywhere. I have shots of fountains with ice, and down at Todd Shipyard a pipe burst, creating a huge icicle and ice fall on their dock. I think that was the lowest temp in modern history, and more pipes were burst then than at any other cold snap.
1) The icicles on the fantail Dec. 25, 1983.
2 and 3) The officers' dining room, in commemoration of the Today in History item 12/12/85. The CRIMSON GLORY 'met' the MQ very close to this spot.
