Speaking of Halloween and the DQ, on her "last trip" in 1970, Capt. Jim Blum and the crew picked up some huge pumpkins somewhere around Muscatine. One of them sat atop the compass box in the pilothouse, and the other, much larger one, after it was appropriately carved, was placed at the far end of the stage while the boat was underway rigged with a long extension cord running out to it to illuminate it at night! Capt. Jim can tell the story about Capt. Wagner and the "Great Pumpkin" code much better than I, so I'll leave that to him.
