Greetings From New Orleans ,
It has now been ten full days since the Ship/Tow collision and the resulting oil spill . Now due to the location of the severed and partially sunken oil barge which is still wedged aganist the GNO bridges , the powers that be decided to move and temporarily relocate both the Str. Natchez and the M/V Creole Queen up river of the leaking oil barge to the Robin Street Wharf . Operations for both boats are still suspended and upon arrival at this new location both boats received a thorough inspection and cleaning of any remaining No.6 oil residue from their hulls and paddlewheels . Today it was reported that the salvage operations strategicly welded huge D-Rings on the oil barge inorder to eventually lift the barge from the river and into another barge to complete the salvage operation . No telling when the lift may occur but a huge oil skiming vessel with a V shaped boom is now lpcated down river from the leaking oil barge inorder to collect any oil that may escape during the lifting process . More latter as the situation changes .
