Greetings From New Orleans ,
Today , June 30th. , an attempt was made to raise the partially submerged and wedged portion of the oil barge that was laying aganist the GNO bridge . Unfortunately , as the barge was being lifted out of the water , more No.6 oil spilled out of the barge causing the salvage crew to suspend the operation and once again the Coast Guard has closed the river yet again for an undetermined amount of time . Once again ships and tows are going to docks or anchorages waiting once again for the powers that be to make a decision and alteration to their game plan . Once again the communities down river from the spill site are closing off their water intakes and once again the local maritime industry is taking a financial beating while waiting for the Coast Guard and the salvage operators once again attempt to get their act together and wrap up this problem . More later as the situation developes .
