Opening Of The Bonne Carre Spillway Is Paying Off !
Greetings From New Orleans ,
On Saturday of this last week the Bonne Carre Spillway was finally opened and there was an actual ceremony that took place and was presided over by our new govonor , Bobby Jindal . Evidently this action has had a positive effect due to the fact that the New Orleans , Carrollton river gage has been stabilized at 16.5 feet and hopfully in the next few weeks we will start to see an actual fall on the river gage . I for one was interested in seeing if Capt. Hawley's , tried and true formula for predicting the New Orleans river stage would come to pass but I don't see that happeing this high water year . One other thing of interest is the fact that the Bonne Carre Spillway is on the National Register Of Historic Places and was constructed from 1929 to 1931 and Govonor Jindal commented on how this 1929 construction technology , simple but effective has survived through out the years .
Smoothe Sailing !
