Greetings all,
Regarding that ragtime concert date I posted about earlier. This is to update everyone to let you know the concert will be held on Thursday evening, May 8 at the famous old St. Rose Church on Riverside Drive (the street formerly known as Eastern Avenue). Yes, Dale, it's the steamboat church with the steeple whose clock faces can be seen from all directions.
The concert is
free of charge and it starts at 7 p.m. It's part of the annual concert series sponsored by St. Rose Church and this has all been arranged by our friends Jim and Lois Sanitato, frequent
Delta Queen floaters (and St. Rose parishioners).
The following evening, Friday May 9 we're planning to take the BB Riverboats public dinner cruise out of Newport, and would like to invite anyone who wants to come along. The cost is around $35 per person and includes dinner and a 2.5 hour cruise. Boarding is at 6 p.m., departure 7 p.m., returning to Newport, KY 9:30 p.m.
I talked to Alan Bernstein today, and he tells me the cruise will take place on the
Belle of Cincinnati and that we will have our own private dining room on the top deck. This will be a great chance to visit and relax, and mostly enjoy the river and each others' company. Capt. Al says I can perform on the air calliope right outside our dining room - yay! That'll be great, since there's no piano.
So, just give BB Riverboats a call, be sure to mention the Jazzou Jones party, and make a reservation! BB's number is 859-261-8500 or 800-261-8586.

See you at the show and on the river!
