Proposing a TWILIGHT cruise
Thanks to Pat for posting the TWILIGHT website and info. Since this is in my neighborhood, I'd be glad to make arrangements for a trip and other local activities, if we have any interest. To get a group rate discount, you need 20 or more, but we could go with any smaller number anyway, at the regular price. The schedule is either Sunday/Monday, Tuesday/Wednesday, or Thursday/Friday. She leaves LeClaire, which is just above the QuadCities, about 9AM and arrives in Dubuque late afternoon. She docks right by the wonderful River Museum and the Grand Harbor Hotel, where passengers stay overnight. The next morning is for touring, which is included in the price (unless there would be a Tschiggfrie sidetrip). The boat leaves at noon and returns to LeClaire about 7 PM. There is a new Holiday Inn Express right on the river in LeClaire, and the LONE STAR and Buffalo Bill/steamboat museum is right next to the TWILIGHT. Of course, an open house here at my place would be in order, and I could do a tour of steamboat related sites in the QC pre or post trip too, if desired. Pat mentioned the JULIA BELLE too. She is 3 hours upriver in LaCrosse, and unfortunately she does very few longer trips anymore. Most are lunch and dinner trips, and even the Winona or Prairie du Chien trips stretch into 3 days, IF they have any. The '08 schedule on the website isn't complete. www.juliabelle.com but it doesn't look like you'd be able to piggyback any overnight JBS trip with the TWILIGHT, just local cruises. ( Midwest Buffs is going to be doing a Friday night dinner cruise as part of our weekend meeting there June 6-7). To sum up: how about emailing me if you'd be interested in doing a TWILIGHT cruise this summer, and choose either June/July/August and S/M T/W or Th/F. Let's see if we've got any interest. I've taken several trips and thoroughly enjoyed them. There is plenty of outside deck space, and airconditioned cabins too. wzc8491@aol.com
