Greetings From New Orleans ,
In my humble opinion , " The Perfect Solution " to this impending crisis with regards to the future and well being of the Str. Delta Queen , in essence would simply be to move and re-locate the boat and the basis of operations to a more friendly and less restrictive environment . Imagine a new country with an interesting river to navigate on and no union or coast guard to strangle the boat literally out of existance . Futhermore , imagine no competion , and just as important a whole new reason to book passage on the boat . Imagine a seven day round trip on the Amazon River or for that matter any other river or bay or body of water . Imagine a home port where the boat would be well received and given the respect that this boat so richly deseerves !! Futhermore , it would not necessairly have to be a permanent move . If nothing else it could be a temporary solution until the powers that be get their act together and get a PERMANENT EXEMPTION that it should have received from day one . The real issue in my mind is I truly don't think that Majestic America Line has any desire or intention to Save The Delta Queen !
