More Fog On The Lower
Greetings From New Orleans ,
As we move closer to winter , or something similar to winter , here in New Orleans , we're also seeing the advent of more late night and early morning fog . Some pilots welcome it and others fear it but nonetheless , it is here and certainly something to contend with . Fortunately , for now at least , the Lower is still considerably low , 3 feet on the New Orleans , Carrolton gage , and dealing with the issues that come with the fog or not so severe . However , when you add the fog with a High River condition , thats when it becomes " interesting " . In this shot , I am North Bound , just below the Luling-Destrehan Bridge , and all you can visually see is the bridge's main channel piers . Fortunately the ship was equiped with two good working radars and passing under the bridge was not too tricky . The one good thing about navigating in the fog , is the fact that most other vessel's have stopped and backed in somewhere thus allowing the ships to have a more or less " open river " without having to deal so much with the usually congested river . Just another day at the office .
Smoothe Sailing !
