Lewis & Clark Historical Site and State Park
About six miles south of Alton, IL, on IL 3 / Great River Road there is the Lewis & Clark Historical Site. Here has been the winter campsite of Meriwether Lewis and William Clark’s Corps of Discovery. The adjoining State Park is located directly opposite the confluence of the Missouri and the Mississippi Rivers. The Lewis & Clark Historical Site also features a replica of the winter camp, a monument and a visitors center with museum.
