Message Boards FAQ

Here you can find answers to questions about how the board works. Use the links or search box below to find your way around.

How do I upload and post a picture?

There are two ways to post a picture on the message board. The more simple way is just to attach the picture at the end of the posting; if you want to go an additional step, you can also choose where exactly in the text of your posting the picture will appear at.

To attach a picture to a new post, use the [Manage Attachments] button at the bottom of the post composition page, and locate the file that you want to attach from your local hard drive.

Up to three pictures can be added to a posting this way. Only jpg or jpeg pictures are being accepted.

After succesfully uploading the picture, you're done if you do not want to place the pictures at a specific location within your posting but just want to leave them at the bottom of the message.

If you want to place a picture at a specific location, go to the place within your message where you want to place the picture and click on the small arrow at the the picture symbol in the tool bar on top of the post composition page and choose the picture you want to insert. You'll see some weird code appearing in your message - that's all right, just leave it as it is and you're done.

Note: In any case, pictures will automatically be resized to dimensions appropriate for the forum, so you can upload pictures without editing them first (assuming they do have the correct cropping and do not need to be rotated). If you know how to do it, we recommend resizing pictures before uploading as this will save you a lot of time depending how big the original picture file is. If you want to resize the picture before uploading, please reduce then to maximal dimensions of 550 pixel width or height, which ever is bigger.

If you don't know how to resize, crop and rotate pictures but want to learn it, we recommend installing Google's free Picasa software and use the export function within this software to resize your pictures. Picasa also gives you great, very simple to use tools to crop and manipulate your pictures, too.
