Searching for any info of when reynolds ran cattle in colorado in the 1880s with the diamond jo cattlr brand. Our museum has the brand but little info. supposedly reynolds brought up longhorns from texas and took a big loss in 1884 due to the harsh winter. his foreman was reportedly john morrissey.

There is a lot of diamond Joe Reynolds material at the Minnesota Historical Society, I known about his narrow gage railroad and resort in Arkansas. first I heard of his ranching. Also try the Colorado brand inspections service, they may be able to tell how long the brand was active. If you know the county the ranch was in try to local historical society or Library or museum.

Thanks Carl, The info we have at our historical society is that John Morrissey ran cattle with the Diamond Jo brand in western Colorado in the 1880s. Morrissey was a pardner of Reynolds in the mining at Leadville. The cattle brand was never registered by Reynolds or Morrissey. Someone found a Diamond Jo branding iron about 10 years ago near Hotchkiss, CO. Morrissey had a ranch near Denver which he sold in 1892. He died in 1893. We will check with the Minn. Historical Society. Thanks
