The first paragraph of a news piece on the WSAZ Charleston TV website today ("Saving the Delta Queen") struck my mind: "Save the queen! Save a piece of American history! That is the chant around the country as thousands fight to keep the delta queen riverboat afloat." Right: THOUSANDS fight for the Deta Queen.

How dare Rep. James Oberstar to shamelessly misuse his power in Congress to ignore the people?

By the way: Who else except all-mighty Rep. Oberstar is actively against...

Charles Greene, member of the famous Greene river family that once owned the Delta Queen and many other packet boats on the Ohio and Mississippi River system has sent an open letter to the US Congress, asking for urgent action regarding an exemption for the Delta Queen. Here is what Charles Greene wrote:

Delta Queen and Anderson Ferry Boone No. 7

As we were chasing the Delta Queen today after she left Cincinnati we were waiting for her at the Anderson Ferry just a few miles downriver from Cincinnati. I'm sure most of you are familiar with Anderson Ferry as they operate another National Historic Landmark, the BOONE NO. 7 paddlewheel ferry from 1935.
Here is a shot of the BOONE NO. 7 with the Delta Queen coming up.
I'll post more pictures of the BOONE soon, but for now enjoy this picture - the old ferry boat is freshly painted...
