Race for the Silver Antlers
Posted 04-12-2010 at 11:53 AM by Franz Neumeier
On April 28, the Belle of Louisville and the Belle of Cincinnati will race for Silver Antlers instead of Golden Antlers as it has been tradition since 1963 when the Belle of Louisville and the Delta Queen first raced on the Ohio River at Louisville, KY.
Part of the Great Steamboat Race between the Belle of Louisville and the Belle of Cincinnati will be a crew competition including a tug of war and an obstacle course before the two boats actually race on the river.
During the race they boat crews have to retrieve a VIP passenger from the shore and a buoy flag from the river.

Just not the same without the DELTA QUEEN in town. A couple weeks ago I dreamed the Coast Guard authorized her release from Chattanooga to come to Louisville for the race. Oh, I wish that were true!

"Silver antlers"??Who decided to use "Silver Antlers" instead of the Gold Antlers? Smart move!!! Only the real steamboat race winner ( The DELTA QUEEN) should have them. Whoever decided the new silver antlers instead of the Gold was brilliant. There is no more Real Steamboat Race... no actual race anymore...just stunts onboard ..I miss the Race and our Queen
