American Queen's Future

Does anyone have information as to whether the American Queen will be put back in service? I heard from a crew member that it might be re-commissioned soon!

Rumors abound this year all over the river! So far we have had the MISSISSIPPI QUEEN rebuilt, recertified, running, scrapped, and about a half dozen other scenarios that keep her from the scrap yard. Rumor also has it the AQ price was dropped to $15,m by MARAD...if this is true, someone will surely snap her up soon. I'd love to get back on the river...but, after this year of hoaxes and false promises of a new dawn, I think I will wait to see a wheel turn before I get excited about it again!

Nothing could make me happier than to see her come back into service. It's been a huge void to have none of our beloved steamboats on the rivers. So many of us are ready that if someone would take the plunge - we'd be steamboatin' with them!
