Hello. Can anyone give me research guidance on finding information on an Ohio River riverboat pilot from the mid 1800's ? I have been told from 2 separate sources that my Grandfather, Jacob Free (and perhaps George Free ) was a licensed pilot out of Covington, KY or greater Cincinnati in the 1800's. One person (Donald C. Free) has said to have a copy of the license, although I cannot locate him on the Internet to get any further info. I have no idea where to start. My family history is sparse and I want to pass down as much a possible. Thank you very much.
