Default Update on July 1st Belle Cruise / Howard Museum Program

There seems to be some confusion about the purchasing of tickets to ride the BELLE on Saturday, July 1st, prior to the "Paddlin' Into the Past" program at the Howard Steamboat Museum.

IF you wish to purchase an advance discount ticket (Adult: $12, Child: $6) you must send a check to the museum by JUNE 20th. Your tickets will be mailed to you. The museum mailing address is P.O. BOX 606, Jeffersonville, IN 47131-0606 and the telephone number is 812-283-3728. The Toll free number is 888-472-0606. Ask for Yvonne Knight, Museum Administrator. For driving directions to the museum and other information the website address is www.steamboatmuseum.org

You can purchase tickets at the BELLE ticket office on the day of the cruise -- probably the most convenient and easiest way for everyone -- for the following prices:

ADULT: $14.00 (with lunch = $24.00)
Senior Citizen (60+) $11.00 (with lunch = $22.00
CHILDREN (ages 3-12) $6.00 (with lunch = $15.00)

IF YOU WISH TO PARTAKE OF THE BUFFET LUNCHEON, YOU MUST MAKE A RESERVATION WITH THE BELLE OFFICE BY CALLING 502-574-2992 or 866-832-0011. More information, including the menu, is available from the Belle website at www.Belleoflouisville.org

The concession stand aboard the boat will also be open providing the usual excursion boat fare of hot dogs, popcorn, candy, soft drinks, ice cream, etc.

The boat departs at NOON and will return at 2:00 P.M. This will enable everyone to make the short jaunt over to the museum for the Paddlin' Into The Past" program - presented by the Dubuque, Iowa father/son steamboat buff dynamic duo of David and Jonathan Tschiggfrie - at 3:00 P.M. in the carriage house just "aft" of the mansion. There is no admission fee although a $5 per person donation for the program will be greatly appreciated to support this initial offering of the "River Ramblings" program series. The slide/film/sound presentation, features never-before-seen photos of the IDLEWILD / AVALON from 1914-1961, lasts approximately two hours and will include an "intermission" for refreshments and visits to the facilities inside the mansion. Although the museum's master plan has the carriage house slated for restoration/remodeling into a meeting/reception center in the future, the building is currently in a somewhat primitive state and UN-air conditioned, so if it's a very warm day, please dress comfortably! And if anyone has IDLEWILD/AVALON photos/souvenirs/memorabilia, please feel free to bring them for display.

I apologize for any confusion and we look forward to seeing many of our good steamboat friends "on deck" Saturday, July 1st! Thanks very much!

Keith
