Kevin,

Log on to Murphy Library at University of Wisconsin - LaCrosse, to access their steamboat photo collection. In the "Search Collection" box type in steam00243 and also steam 00244. These two views show the boat before the new paddlewheels were built. The old wheels from the ALBATROSS were apparently replaced by new ones, as these photos show only the wheel shafts and flanges as the boat is being built. I don't believe the Murphy collection has any shots of the new wheels actually under construction. Perhaps they were built after the exterior steel bulkheads were already in place, which would explain why there are no shots of them in the collection.
